The film:

The new factory of the Società Anonima di Arturo Ambrosio e Alfredo Gandolfi is ready at the beginning of 1908. The atmosphere of the space, a courageous expansion of the house, is perfect  to create ambitious projects. Over the year, the company produces 111 films, doubling the production of the previous year, in an open competition with Cines and the French Pathé. Gli ultimi giorni di Pompei, based on the novel The Last Days of Pompei, written in 1834 by Sir Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, is the most challenging title unanimously considered with the film Nerone (1909)*, the progenitor of the Italian historic cinema.
