The film:

Tweedledum jumps on his car without the plate number and leaves at full speed, laughing at the prohibition imposed by a policeman. The police officers, riding bicycles, gun for the outlawed  driver who has to deal with many ups and downs: closed level crossings, carts and ladders that cut off and steep stairs. Finally Tweedledum stops in a courtyard. The policemen reaches him and demand an explanation: where is the plate number? It has to be put on the back of the car…and that’s how Tweedledum surprises everyone: the plate number exists and it’s right where the law calls for: on his “back”.

The film restoration:

The restored print of L'auto di Robinet was bought by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino in 1993. The restoration was carried out by the Nederlands Filmmuseum of Amsterdam [EYE Film Institute Netherlands], from a black and white nitrate print with Dutch intertitles belonging to the Jean Desmet collection.
