The film:

A print fragment may show traces of the many vicissitudes happened to the film, starting with its realization. In the film adaptation of his own novel, Febo Mari directs the great actor Ermete Zacconi, who is the protagonist of a dramatic story well set in a historical reality but not without some clichés: the immigration of poor Italian farmers to South America.

The film restoration:

This digital copy of a fragment from L’emigrante was produced by Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino from a 35 mm triacetate positive 486-meter long print, that had been held by the Museum.

The archive copy, from wich a 35 mm dupe negative for preservation has been printed, was scanned at 2k and digitally restored through a non-invasive cleaning, stabilization and color correction treatment.

The project has been carried out in 2017 by the L’Immagine Ritrovata film restoration labs in Bologna.
