The film:

In 1911 Mario Piacenza climbed the top of Mount Cervino with some partners. Apart from the back pack, he was carrying the film camera and the tripod. Considering the conditions of the shots, the quality of the images is incredibile. The film is not to be missed by the mountain lovers. 

 

The film restoration:

Ascensione al Cervino was restored by Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino from a tinted nitrate positive, a nitrate negative and a triacetate duplicate, held by the Museum. Fondazione Piacenza di Pollone and the Museo Nazionale della Montagna Duca degli Abruzzi in Torino contributed to the researches.

The restoration work was carried out in 2013 by L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in Bologna.
