Dolorosi episodi della guerra italo-turca
(1912)
Director: Luca Comerio – Production: Comerio Films, Milano – Lenght: 138m – Intertitles: Italian –

The film:

Episode of the series produced by Comerio dedicated to the Italo-Turkish war. We can see the departure from Africa to Italy of the Lieutenant Paolo Solaroli's remains.

In 2012 the Museum preserved in color its collection of Comerio’s films, previously preserved only in black and white. The overview of the small corpus of these films in their color version adds a further puzzle piece to the knowledge of his production and allows us to understand the fascination that these testimonies played on the big public better. These films lead us to think about how the use of the tinting and toning was very common also in the production of documentary war films.

The film restoration:

The preservation was carried out by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino, from a tinted and toned nitrate print with Italian intertitles, wich was donated to the Museum in 1968.

The process was carried out in 2012 at the L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in Bologna.
