Attraverso la Sicilia

Director: Piero Marelli – Production: Tiziano Film, Torino – Lenght: 105m – Intertitles: italian –

The film:

A ferry boat unloads a train on the coast of Sicily; the steam locomotive starts, the railway stretches through barren landscapes and picturesque coasts. Meanwhile we can see the shellfish collecting, the coming and going of the people at the harbour and the ruins of the ancient Greek settlements: Selinunte and Girgenti. The leading colors are the blue of the seaside, the yellow of the sun and a wonderful red toning which zenders the majesty of the ruins that stand out against the sky.

The film restoration:

The preservation was carried out by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino. A dupe negative and a positive color print were printed on safety film, using the Desmet method, from a tinted nitrate print bought in 1993. The process was carried out in 1997 at the Haghefilm laboratory in Amsterdam.
