The film:

Only a slight fragment is needed to look down into the depths of metacinema. He is an experienced actor and does not love her anymore, but gives in to her request for advice and shows her how to perform a death scene. She still loves him but pretends to pretend, imitating his gestures while she is actually dying. She poisoned herself because she cannot live without him but also to make him pay for it a bit, of course. The actress’s real husband directs outside the set. Today lost, the melodramatic story of drama and jealously built up to this climactic scene.

The film restoration:

The preservation of a fragment of La ribalta (S.A. Ambrosio, 1912) was conducted by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino and the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, from a tinted positive nitrate copy, conserved at the Cineteca di Bologna.

The restoration was carried out at the laboratory L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna in 2010.
