The film:

The surviving Trojans, guided by Aeneas and Achates, are captured by the amazons of the queen of Carthage, Dido. She receives them in her splendid palace and gives the order to put them to death. But Aeneas succeeds in attracting her interest, and he and Dido fall in love.

 

The film restoration:

The preservation of Didone abbandonata was conducted by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino and the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, from a tinted nitrate positive copy with Swedish subtitles, which is conserved at the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna.

The restoration was carried out at the laboratory L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna in 2010.
