The film:

Historic drama set in 1812, Spergiura! inaugurated the “golden series” of the Ambrosio factory and was one of the greatest success of the production company of Torino. Frusta, in his memoirs, remembers the birth of this film: «I had catched Spergiura! from the short story Grande Bretèche written by Balzac, caught it, reshuffled, kneaded my way, with as many sentimental embellishments as I could write, and with the most fierce situations of Radcliffian memory. […] The film Spergiura was shot during the spring of 1909 (the general director and scenographer was Ambrosio himself, the cast was made up of Mary Cléo Tarlarini, Alberto Capozzi, Luigi Maggi and Luigi Bonelli and the cameraman was Giovanni Vitrotti). It was a really great success.»
